Vision

Our vision is to Enable Digital Trust by allowing users to safely collect and share verifiable information with peers, the Web and AI systems.

Challenge

In an increasingly digital world, establishing genuine trust online has become one of the greatest barriers to safe, seamless interaction. People, organizations, and AI systems routinely need to verify who or what they are dealing with, approve or deny requests, authorize access to sensitive data, and green light critical actions. Yet today’s authentication and authorization methods rely heavily on centralized systems that are vulnerable to cyber threats. This lack of reliable, user-controlled solution creates friction, limits human oversight of AI systems, and leaves critical decisions vulnerable to impersonation, out-of-control automation, and loss of accountability.

Solution

macrokey is a fully decentralised, self-managed identity app for issuing, collecting and sharing verifiable information and user consent, to safely interact with peers, web services and AI agents. Verifiable information that:

  • serves a specific purpose that you consent to.
  • does not disclose your raw data.
  • is non-reusable if it lands in the wrong hands.

From travellers to loan applicants, everyday people are affected by the way their data is requested – often through simple web forms or email. It is unclear what users consent to and how their data is managed, including whether it will be exposed to third parties. Using macrokey, individuals control their personal data and credentials, and have a more secure and simple way to authenticate, authorize and control their digital interactions.

Organisations adopt macrokey to get instant proof of digital identities and credentials without centralised identity management. This applies to staff or customers and can include proof of identity, qualifications, and more, without the need to share raw data such as scans of documents. Instead, proof takes the form of cryptographically signed verifiable credentials that cannot be reused for other purposes if leaked. Organisations can improve their compliance through data governance with provable user consent, data provenance and traceability.
